"Relieve My Asthma"
Online Breathing Retraining Class for People with Asthma
February 3 - April 11, 2014
with a 60-minute pre-launch teleconference on January 28th
Start a dynamic, holistic program aimed at correcting dysfunctional breathing for people with asthma. The program emphasizes healthy breathing habits and the development of respiratory strength.
Over 10 weeks, students will have the opportunity to refine progressive, self-help skills to control and reduce asthma symptoms naturally. It is meant to be complementary and fit in with whatever medical program and prescriptions you are currently on, as an enhancement.
Breathing retraining is the path to reverse dysfunctional breathing patterns that cause or contribute to many chronic health conditions. But often we're breathing dysfunctionally because our minds or our spirits or our bodies are uncomfortable in some way and to move through that we have to become a detective of our own experience to find stuck places and move through them.
This class is going to move at a slow, manageable pace for people with busy lives, so this transformation is not jarring.
Each week we will take up a new topic in four focus areas: healthy breathing habits, nasal breathing, muscle relaxation, and becoming proficient with the BreathSlim breathing device.
The course will include a combination of prerecorded material, live webinars and telephone calls, and partner exercises.
Students will get access to a private portal where weekly study material and homework will be available every Monday. Teacher Lisa Bowen will run a weekly interactive webinar teaching the material live on Tuesday evenings, with time to answer your questions. (Don't worry if you can't make it; each session will be recorded for later viewing.) On Fridays, there will be a second opportunity to ask questions and check in about your progress.
Each student will receive a BreathSlim breathing device from Breathing Retraining Center, so sign up early so we have time to send it to you before the class starts. There is also one required book and several optional books you would enjoy reading during this course.

Our courses offer an alternative approach and are not the practice of medicine, psychology, or a form of psychotherapy, nor do we offer a substitute for seeking medical or psychological advice from an appropriate professional health-care provider. We want to make the important distinction between using the Buteyko Breathing Technique, the BreathSlim Device, relaxation strategies and healthy breathing habits for health and well-being and the practice of medicine, psychology or any other licensed health-care profession.
