Nasal Breathing Workshop
"You should breathe through your mouth as much as you eat with your nose."
The Buteyko Breathing Technique and other breathing-retraining strategies we teach are an alternative approach and are not the practice of medicine, psychology, or a form of psychotherapy, nor are they a substitute for seeking medical or psychological advice from an appropriate professional health-care provider. We want to make the important distinction between using the Buteyko Breathing Technique and other breathing-retraining strategies for health and well-being and the practice of medicine, psychology or any other licensed health-care profession.
We all breathe through our noses when we're born. This workshop is for teens and adults who started mouth breathing at some point in their lives and want to transition back for the myriad mental- and physical-health advantages.
This workshop will cover:
- Non-drug strategies to unblock your nose, including the Buteyko Nose Clearing exercises, nasal strips and stents.
- Relaxation techniques to reduce the amount of air students need.
- Nasal breathing practice at rest, including instruction on the best posture, breathing route and rhythm, air volume and pressure.
- Nasal breathing practice during movement.
Wear comfortable clothes and don't eat for at least an hour before the meeting time. Eat an afternoon snack and plan to have dinner afterward.
This workshop is not on our current Schedule. Let us know if you're interested in it!
