Breathing Retraining Classes in Healthcare Settings

We welcome the opportunity to offer classes in medical offices, and government and private hospitals and health centers.

We support conventional medicine, and the Buteyko Breathing Educators Association stance is that our students always take medication as prescribed by their doctors.  Our goal is to build respiratory fitness to the point where people may not need as much medication, but that is a decision to be made by individuals and their doctors.

Our courses are educational and experiential, not therapeutic.  This is not medical advice.  We simply show people how their body should operate.

If appropropriate we work with healthcare providers such as doctors, dentists and psychotherapists.  Full progress reports are provided to the referring practitioners and treatment plans are mutually agreed upon where applicable.

The Buteyko Breathing Technique is an alternative approach and is not the practice of medicine, psychology, or a form of psychotherapy, nor is it a substitute for seeking medical or psychological advice from an appropriate professional health-care provider.  We want to make the important distinction between using the Buteyko Breathing Technique for health and well-being and the practice of medicine, psychology or any other licensed health-care profession.

Learn More: Science and Clinical Trials

Our web page on the science behind the Buteyko technique features a Guide for Doctors as well as results of clinical trials that have been held to prove its efficacy.  We also have created pages to describe how healthy breathing habits can help people with certain conditions and more scientific references are on each page.
