Breath is the key to good health

Some thoughts on the importance of the breath and breathing from my Buteyko instructor trainer Robert Litman of The Breathable Body in Tucon, AZ: I've always loved this preamble on his website:
"
Breathing is steeped in more mythology than any other psycho-physiological process. We draw breath 20,000 times a day. Yet most of us do not know how to make the most of our breath to use it as a vehicle for richer physical and emotional health. The breath is one of the most potent tools we have. Its power to intervene and assist with the suffering and pain of everyday life has been known since ancient times. Some ailments can be signs of the body’s struggle to establish a coherent relationship with its breathing. Shortness of breath, shallow breathing, irregular breathing patterns, breath holding, anxiety, insomnia, allergies, snoring, sleep apnea, asthma, poor digestion, forgetfulness, depression, chronic fatigue and fibromyalgia are all symptoms of incoherence between body and breath. The goal of The Breathable Body is to help people access the power to make their lives more nourishing, more comfortable, and more breathable."
Robert is teaching two Buteyko courses in the San Francisco Bay Area this summer for people with multiple health conditions who are under a doctor's care and want to try Buteyko.  Call us for details!
